The heat is on as General Motors Corp. has pulled ahead the launch of the redesigned 2007 Chevrolet Suburban and its full-size siblings. The all-new Suburban is expected to make its public debut in January at the Detroit auto show and will go on sale shortly after that.
Along with the Suburban, GM is completely revamping the big GMC Yukon XL and the Cadillac ESV, as well as the short-wheelbase Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade. All are due in showrooms by spring 2006.
The full-size SUVs are being extensively overhauled, with revised suspensions and powertrains, upgraded cabins and new exterior sheet metal.
GM's full-size pickups, including the Silverado, Sierra, Avalanche and Escalade EXT, also will be redesigned in 2006.
