Dodge plans to add a second SUV to its lineup next year when the 2007 Nitro debuts.
The Nitro -- a five-passenger SUV -- was first introduced as a concept vehicle at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show.
The Nitro will be smaller than the Durango, the brand's only SUV.
Dodge sales are up 2.2 percent this year but the DaimlerChrysler division is eager to attract new customers with a smaller SUV.
The Nitro is expected to be built in Toledo, Ohio, and come equipped with a 3.7-liter V-6. It will also be sold in markets outside North America.
