First Brad and Jen, now Nick and Jessica?
"Newlyweds" no more? Us Weekly is reporting Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey are splitsville. Nick and Jess have been rumored to be on the outs, well, forever, but the couple always has maintained their love is as healthy as the day Jess first confused tuna with chicken. The Us report -- which publicists for both Lachey and Simpson denied -- lays most of the blame on Simpson, her partying, and her creepy dad, who's been known to brag about her daughter's breasts to the press. The couple is reportedly waiting until later this month to make an announcement -- probably after someone explains to Jess what the word "divorce" means.
Lindsay Lohan crashes her car ... again
Did Lindsay Lohan learn nothing on the set of "Herbie: Fully Loaded?" Lohan's driving skills were again called into question when she was involved in a car crash in West Hollywood on Tuesday, when her Mercedes-Benz convertible collided with a van. The blame was initially placed on paparazzi who were allegedly tailing Lohan -- she was involved in a similar accident in May -- but investigators told the Los Angeles Times the 'razzi "was not a factor" in the accident. Either way, new paparazzi laws go into effect in California Jan. 1. In the meantime, buckle up, Linds!
Briefly
• Country anti-diva Gretchen Wilson hijacks Billboard's albums chart with "All Jacked Up," which debuts at No. 1 on this week's chart. Debuts from Sheryl Crow and Three 6 Mafia follow at Nos. 2 and 3.
• The White Stripes will perform on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" Dec. 1. "We've never had a musical performance on the show before -- not because we haven't wanted one -- but because we were holding out for a reunited Spandau Ballet," Stewart said in a statement. "This will have to suffice."
• The new -- note, we didn't say "improved" -- INXS will play Feb. 8 at Detroit's Masonic Temple.
• Worldwide sales of Harry Potter books have surpassed the 300 million mark. And you thought Jose Canseco's book was selling well.
