Ford, supplier asked to keep negotiating

A judge asked Ford Motor Co. and Navistar International Corp. on Wednesday to keep negotiating a contract dispute that could stop production of the automaker's profitable F-Series Super Duty pickups, according to Ford spokeswoman Becky Sanch.

Navistar, which supplies diesel engines to Ford, brought the truck line to a halt last week after stopping shipments over a pricing and warranty dispute. A judge later ordered the temporary resumption of shipments. Ford was in court Wednesday to ask for a permanent order.

The judge asked the companies to keep talking to try to resolve their differences after a resolution seemed near.
