Metro Detroit voters face varying issues
The Detroit News
Voters today decide on everything from mayoral and council elections to taxes and governance.
• In Macomb County, voters countywide will decide on a new charter that could overhaul government operations and pave the way for an elected executive. New Haven voters will decide on a bond to replace their water supply system, and there are mayoral matchups in Sterling Heights and Mount Clemens.
• Oakland County voters will elect mayors in Southfield and Pontiac, as well as decide on a bond request for a new community center in Berkley. In Royal Oak, residents will weigh a moratorium on new liquor license transfers, and Royal Oak Township voters face a millage hike. Madison Heights, Oxford, Huron Valley and Brandon school districts are among those with millage or bond proposals.
