Separate crashes leave two critically injured in Clinton Township

Clinton Twp. -- Police are investigating a hit-and-run collision early this morning that left a bicyclist in critical condition.
The cyclist was southbound on Gratiot, south of Quinn Road, shortly after midnight when the collision occurred, Clinton Township police said in a news release.
The vehicle that struck the cyclist is described as a dark blue sports car. It suffered damage to the front end and windshield area and investigators recovered parts of the vehicle at the scene, police said.

It was the second collision in Clinton Township in the space of a few hours that left a person in critical condition.
At about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by a 16-year-old Clinton Township male was westbound on Cass between Halsey and Romeo Plank when the car struck a man in the roadway, police said. The driver stopped at the scene and reported the accident.
The pedestrian, who was reported in critical condition, is a 43-year-old Mount Clemens resident.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, police said.
