Database: What's your community's tax rate?
Tax rates vary widely in Michigan
Royal Oak Township has one of the highest tax rates in the state and its board is asking voters to raise the rate even higher on Nov. 3. Its rate of over 60 mills is four times higher than the lowest, in Burnside Township in Lapeer County.
You can search here to find your community's rate in 2008, the most recent year for which there are comparable records.
To find your community, pick a county and then choose your municipal type. If you live in a village and don't know which township it is in, pick your county first and then select from the list of villages.
For many municipalities, the rate differs depending on school district, so make sure you find your district as well.
