Detroit -- Council winners Charles Pugh and Gary Brown came to the City Council meeting this morning.
Pugh and current Council President Kenneth Cockrel Jr. met privately for several minutes before the meeting. Pugh, a former Detroit broadcast journalist whose mother was murdered when he was a child, will become council president in January after receiving the most votes in Tuesday's election. Brown will serve as the council's president pro tem for his second-place finish.
Cockrel recognized Pugh and Brown in the audience before the meeting. Both were met with hugs and handshakes by council staffers.
