Two men convicted in Genoa beating case

Two men were convicted Thursday of robbing, torturing and brutally beating a World War II veteran in his Genoa Township home last October. Noah Lovell III, 33, of Plainwell, and Harry T. Riley, 37, of Ohio, face life behind bars after each was convicted on four charges of armed robbery, imprisonment, torture and home invasion. John Pickett, 84, was hospitalized for two months following the assault. Countywide

Supreme Court to hear arguments in heroin case

The Michigan Supreme Court heard arguments Thursday to determine if suspended Brighton attorney Ronald Plunkett will face two charges for causing the heroin overdose death of 22-year-old Tiffany Gregory. Plunkett's trial is on hold. He faces two charges for delivering less than 50 grams of cocaine and maintaining a drug house.
