Atlanta church choir voted best in nation

Detroit -- The Atlanta West Pentecostal Church Choir was voted "Best Church Choir in America" Saturday evening at the "How Sweet The Sound" choir competition at Joe Louis Arena.
The racially diverse 61-member choir was among 11 choirs vying for the coveted title as best choir in the country and $25,000 in cash and prizes.
The choir's director, Brandon Frazier, said he was exited and surprised over the win.

"We're just a little choir from Atlanta," said Frazier on Saturday. "We were surprised how well we were received. There were so many other incredible choirs."
Frazier's choir brought the crowd to its feet with its "Anthem of Praise" selection.
The 3 1/2-hour long competition was at times part-revival as the choirs delivered soul-stirring songs to an estimated crowd of 15,000. Several gospel stars, including Marvin Sapp and the Clark Singers, performed at the event.
Runner up for the top spot in the competition was the Remnant Concert Choir from Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Washington, D.C.The Selected of God choir from Praise Tabernacle in Detroit was among the finalists.
