Ad agency BBDO announces closure

Alisa Priddle / The Detroit News

About 485 employees of BBDO Detroit have been given notice the office will close at the end of January because Chrysler Group LLC has not negotiated continued contracts with the advertising agency.

The closure impacts about 400 workers in the Troy office as well as employees in Windsor, Ontario, and some field offices, said spokesman Roy Elvove of BBDO North America.

BBDO will continue to try to negotiate new work with Chrysler until the current contract expires Jan. 26, 2010.
