Howell

Former teacher may fill assistant principal post in Howell

The School Board will consider tonight hiring a former teacher as assistant principal at Three Fires Middle School to succeed Bob Thomas, who was terminated Oct. 26. Robert Starkey was a 10-year teacher who was named Teacher of the Year in 2008 He would be paid $85,853 annually if hired.

• The Howell Carnegie District Library is beginning a strategic planning process to assist the board and staff in service needs. Two focus groups are planned from 6:30-8 p.m. Nov. 17 and 1:30-3 p.m. on Dec. 10 in the library's conference room.. Register by calling (517) 546-0720, Ext. 110.

Teacher of Year honor goes to Jerry Van Horn

Fowlerville High School teacher Jerry Van Horn was selected the Teacher of the Year, Superintendent Richard Heinrich said. Other teachers honored: Kimberly Gerecke, Smith Elementary; Jennifer Smith, Kreeger Elementary; and Carla Smith, Fowlerville Junior High.
